Eliminating Toxic Masculinity
In the kpop industry, makeup is common for idols to wear and they have been doing so for decades and have gotten hate for it saying, “They look like girls”. People would always hate on how male kpop idols are wearing makeup and how they look like “girls”. The same type of people that hate on kpop saying that they look like girls also say how we should eliminate toxic masculinity. The part that throws me off and makes me furious is that when Timothée Chalamet and Harry Styles eliminate toxic masculinity it looks good, a kpop idol eliminates toxic masculinity, it is labeled as weird and ugly. Why is it that people show so much hate to kpop, but then go to their own idols and praise them for the same thing. Why is it that when one person does it, it is ugly and weird, if someone does that same thing it’s amazing and stunning. Is there a reason why people hate when kpop eliminates toxic masculinity?

Hello, Anna,
ReplyDeleteI understand where you are coming from, however I could not say the same about the hateful people you speak of. It never ceases to confound me how ignorant some individuals can be. Fortunately, human beings have the potential to learn. Have you ever tried confronting anyone on why they believe it is only right when their own idols tackle toxic masculinity? I would be delighted to hear about any conversations you have ever experienced with someone who only believes opposition to toxic masculinity is fit for certain people. If so, you have probably tried to change their mindset to be open-minded. If not, then why not try driving them into a state of awareness. If they truly want the elimination of toxic masculinity to occur, then I am certain you have the ability to inform them about the true intentions of kpop idols.
