Let’s set up a scenario where humans go into WW3 where everyone becomes involved and most knowledge about math and science is lost, sending us back to the Stone Age, where now? I genuinely believe that humans will have to go through another millions of years for natural resources such as coal and oil to replenish and give us a chance for another industrial revolution if humans even last that long.
Also due to the loss of knowledge, most humans would die and chaos would erupt. Before the industrial revolution it’s said that coal can be just picked up from the ground because it was so abundant, but now machinery is used and desperate to even find a coal hotspot. In the US alone, we have about 332 years of coal reserves left, and if demands rise it can drop to 150. Coal to be made naturally takes 300 millions years to form and oil 50 million.
So what what do you guys think, if humans mess up will we be able to bounce back to modern technology, or will humans be dethroned by another advanced species?

For one, I think your topic was very intriguing for the perspective you gave. However, I feel that humans, the scientists and historians at least, have recognized the importance of knowledge. I feel that a portion of the human population would be dedicated to spreading and advocating for the necessity of knowledge and education. Although, you do bring up a good point with the scarce amount of coal left in the US. In that case, I feel like there will be chaos with the transition to a less powerful/efficient energy source. So to answer your question, no, I do not think humans will be able to bounce back to modern technology, and no, I do not believe humans will be dethroned by another advanced species.
ReplyDeleteI don't think humans will be necessarily dethroned by another species. I do think that because of the coal shortage, we will have to rely on a different kind of resource. You make a good point with the coal shortages and WW3. I don't think we'll be able to come back to modern technology in this case. It seems like we're already gone too far to change anything.
