Is Artificial Intelligence providing humans an advantage or disadvantage?

With the rise of advancements in technology, the question that is consistently brought up to thought is will Artificial Intelligence take over our jobs? When reading about "Can we stop AI from outsmarting humanity?" one part struck out to me as the article debates about how we can minimize AI robots from overpowering humans. AI is consistently used in warehousing, agriculture, retail, and healthcare departments, providing us an advantage of reducing human error. An average human works for about four to six hours a day, where AI robots are available at any time during the day. However, the disadvantage of having an AI robot is the result of unemployment.  I recently read an article about how Postmates invested in an AI robot that can deliver food for thirty miles while carrying fifty pounds on a single battery charge. This food delivery robot is a good example of AI eliminating self-delivery, eventually resulting in unemployment. AI is also used in agriculture, putting farmers into unemployment as they harvest crops at a faster pace than human laborers. However, the introduction of AI to the market will require high costs for maintenance but are companies willing to invest money for more efficient labor? The overall question is that is AI providing us an advantage or disadvantage?

  1. A.I is a huge advantage in the long run because of all the automation it provides for many industries and especially in industries where any amount of human error can result in very disastrous consequences if done incorrectly. The introduction of A.I also opens many job opportunities in the programming and repairing space that can replace the lost jobs from A.I. The idea of A.I as a threat to humanity as well is an illogical one because no computer as ever been able to replicate the human mind in terms of our ability to process and give information. For example, one of the most powerful supercomputers in China attempted to process 1% of the human mind for one second and immediately caught fire. This goes to show that humans cannot be so easily replaced.
