Is California Ready For Another Lockdown?

    Due to the rise in cases for COVID-19, the governor of California declared that all restaurants, offices, shopping centers, and retail businesses be shut down until further notice. For the past few weeks, I've noticed that on my social media that many people have been going out and enjoying their summer vacation with safety precautions. Even myself, have been visiting different shopping centers and eating at restaurants that allow dine-in services with my family during the month of June. This past weekend, I visited the Orange County area and noticed that many people weren't wearing face masks and had little social distancing. I believe that most people decided to not follow these precautionary guidelines because they think that this "coronavirus" is something to take lightly and truly don't believe in it. 
    From my understanding, LA county needs to take this virus more seriously because our community is slowly starting to think that this virus will just come go. About 8,358 cases were added to the total amount as of July 12th. The people of California need to understand that we need to start adjusting to this new lifestyle with COVID-19. By practicing social distancing and wearing face masks. Businesses are making progress by doing takeout services and through online shopping. School activities are also adjusting to online classes. As for extracurricular activities, my own sport, color guard, hosts virtual rehearsals and video assignments to check in on our team and to make sure we're on top of our exercise. By having an immediate lockdown back then in March, we were all surprised and didn't know how life would play out.
    Now being July, we need to understand that this isn't some kind of joke and we need to follow these precautions for the safety of our ourselves and for others. Now that the governor has declared this statement, we need to follow these safety guidelines because many lives were put in danger due to irresponsible social gatherings and not maintaining the six-feet apart rule. By enforcing this, the people in California can start to adjust to this new lifestyle so we won't have a sudden uprising of cases again.

    To answer your question, "Is California ready for another lockdown?" I think the answer might be no because people are still not social distancing and wearing masks when being told. I myself did go on "vacation" but my family and I were very self aware and social distanced ourselves from other people. I feel like now people don't care about the virus that is still going around and they're just continuing their normal lifestyle but there can be a chance where that might change.

    To answer your question, “Is California ready for another lockdown,” I believe that California is not ready for another lockdown. The situation with the virus has not gotten any better, the virus is still around. However, it seems as if people have forgotten about the virus, because I see people complaining about wearing a mask as well as seeing people socializing with each other and are not taking any caution whatsoever. I feel like people would ignore this lockdown, rather than following the rules and protecting themselves from the virus.
