Giant Robots Made to Kill Americans?!

Ever since the corona virus became a pandemic, it was questionable whether or not the Olympics would start this summer. But it has recently been confirmed that Tokyo, the host of the 2020 Olympics have  moved the date to July of next year. But this did not stop them from setting up for the Olympics, it has been revealed that Tokyo has been building a giant robot this entire time during the pandemic. Specifically named the RX-78-2 Gundam, this 60 foot tall, 25 ton monstrosity is not only equipped with full body armor, but it has 24 degrees of motion, according to the tech website New Atlas. The amount of mobility this machine has is almost unbelievable considering its one-fifth the size of the statue of liberty. But this also leaves us with the question, is this robot really just built for the Olympics, or will it be used for military use at some time in the future? Turns out that this machine is not anything random that the Japanese made up for the Olympics, this "Gundam" has actually been around in Japanese culture since 1979, when it first aired on television as a cartoon named Kidou Senshi Gundam. This show, unlike many others at the time, focused on the actual consequences of living in a time of war, with the effect killing someone has on people and the unjust act of the government enforcing children to go to war. In the show humanity is divided between two groups, The Principality of Zeon (people who live in space) and The Earth Federation (people who live on earth). What bothers me about this is that the principality of Zeon closely resembled Americans, in that they demanded freedom away from earth and declared independence the same way the US did, and that the people who built the Gundam in the show were Japanese. Later on in the show the Gundam ends up defeating the Principality and the war ends. This  leaves me with the impression that the Earth federation is supposed to symbolize japan and there success in robotics with the creation of the Gundam, and the Principality of Zeon is supposed to symbolize Americas obsession with freedom and how it makes us all feel privileged to do whatever we want. This Gundam that they have just built is supposed to be a message to all us Americans, to show that they can build giant killing robots and we can't. I might just be looking too deep into this, but I would like to hear you take. Are we all going to die pretty soon from giant robots? Or is this all just one ridiculous conspiracy? What should we do if this doesn't turn out to be a conspiracy? Personally, I believe we should build a giant Optimus Prime to combat this Gundam.

  1. If this really is not a conspiracy, that Gundam won't stand a chance. If it really did pose a threat the U.S. could send over a squadron of stealth drones to overwhelm the Gundam and blow it up. Then, the U.S. would create a giant box to put the pieces in and create the first ever 1:1 Gundam model kit for a fan who has lots of money.

  2. I feel like this is a bit of an over reaching conspiracy that is trying to instill fear into people as the entire Japanese Olympic theme is about anime and it is that because it is one of Japan's biggest exports especially to the United States and the Mobile Suit Gundam replica is from one of their most popular and longest running anime to date. The Japanese is also one of our closest allies in terms of military are the Second World War so if they have it we have it already. The United States doesn't have the most elite, strongest, and most well equipped fighting force for nothing.
