In the article Media in The Age of Trump, debaters focus on the repression the journalists face in the hands of the people. However, what's striking to me about the article is Trump’s views on journalism itself. Trump shares many negative views of the press, especially when those opinions don’t fit his. He among others put down journalists for expressing their truth and their opinions on their platforms. Although, Trump is known to express his opinions on forms of social media as well. Which I see as unfit for the circumstances of his negativity towards journalists. A man that is very expressive on social media, is attacking those whose jobs are to simply report aiding in further repression towards the media. Which makes me ask the question: who are we to judge others for expressing their opinions whether it’s their job or not? You may disagree with their opinion which is fine, but separated from the opinion itself, why do we deduce negative opinions towards people who are just expressing theirs?
I agree because everyone is allowed to have their own thoughts and opinions so who are we to judge them. It’s quite hypocritical of Trump to view journalists in a negative light when he also posts his own opinions and thoughts on social media that many people may not agree with. It’s a journalists job to get the facts and truth and write what they saw and heard it’s nothing bias.
ReplyDeleteIt is not the problem of the journalist's opinions but of the misinformation that most journalist do in order to make one or more group of people look bad. I'm not saying that everything that Trump says is truthful or intelligent but he is right about the media using their position as a "refutable source" to misinform people about certain things. CNN is a great example of this problem because of their biased attacks against Trump by misinformation, CNN once reported that Trump was putting illegal immigrants in "concentration camp" along the border and that it is a horrible thing to do when in reality it was actually the Obama administration that gave the green light for the use of the detainment centers along the border but CNN rewrote the facts to their favor in order to make Trump look bad.
