I recently saw a video on TikTok of a woman who was a person of color talking about how she bought a puppy and asked the seller this, “I wanted to make sure they are okay with my skin before showing up to their property.” While watching the video, tears started falling down my face. This woman should not have to ask if it is okay with the seller if she can go pick up her own dog. The thought that she had felt like she had to ask because she was a POC and was scared something might happen to her breaks my heart. We are all people, we are all the same, no matter the skin color, or gender. The thought that the woman imagined that she could lose her life, just by picking up her puppy makes me mad and furious. No one should ever have to ask anyone that type of question.
I totally agree with you, no one should have to explain their race or ask anything like that because their scared something may happen to them because of their skin color. We're all human, but unfortunately a lot of people in this world don't see it that way. Many see some melanin and start to assume the worst and just come up with so many different stereotypes, profiling a person based on their skin color and not who they actually are. It's scary and concerning with how much of a problem race is still in this world today. No one is born to be racist, racism is taught. Instead, everyone should be teaching the younger generation and even this generation how to love and care for one another no matter what color someone is, but sadly that only sounds like something from a perfect world and this world is definitely not perfect.
ReplyDeleteI completely agree with you on this. It is so sickening that she felt the need to ask if she was welcome only because of the color of her skin. Nobody should ever feel any kind of hate or violence towards them because of their race. This really shows how society can be so cruel to one another based off of something that in my eyes, doesn't even matter. I don't judge people based off of their skin color or their gender or anything else. What i do base someone off of is their character and personality. More people in this world should learn that we are all human, so everyone should be treated with the same respect.
